I want to hear from youth in the community and am inviting anyone from the ages of 15-24 to APPLY to the Tobique-Mactaquac Youth Council. As a part of the Liberal Government’s commitment to meaningful youth engagement in Canada’s government, we are making it easier for young Canadians to have their say closer to home.

Tobique-Mactaquac Youth Council is open for application until September 30th and will include youth from different schools, neighborhoods and local associations.

Youth that are selected for the council will learn about the Canadian political process, different issue areas under federal jurisdiction, gain valuable leadership skills and earn volunteer hours. Each member will also earn a certificate at the end of the Youth Council. The length of the Youth Council’s term is a full school year, spanning September 2017 to June 2018.

Our hope is that this Youth Council will help promote civic engagement, educate youth on the Canadian political process, and invite the youth perspective on different topics ranging from electoral reform to access to education. The feedback gathered in this process will be used to understand the perspective of youth in the decisions the government makes.

The council will meet several times through the year to discuss issues that matter to you, your community and your country. If you wish to join the Tobique-Mactaquac Youth Council, APPLY using this link or contact our office.
